Credigy Receivables Inc.?

Example Settlement with Credigy Receivables

The Law Office of Simon Goldenberg PLLC was retained to assist a client with resolving a frozen bank account that was the result of an judgment. At the time that our office was retained, the judgment was assigned to Main Street Acquisition Corp by Credigy Reveivables, as assignee of HSBC Bank. With interest, the balance accrued to ~$7,000. The lawyer collecting on the judgment was Todd Houslanger. As a result of our representation, we were able to negotiate a conditional release of $1,000 to settle the judgment in full. Upon remitting the settlement payment, the remainder of our client's bank account was released, and the judgment is vacated.

About Credigy Receivables Inc.

Founded in 2001 in Georgia, they list their principal office location as: 3950 Johns Creek Court, Suite 100, Suwanee, Georgia, 30024. Credigy is licensed by the NYC Deprtment of Consumer Affairs, License No. 1325842. Credigy's BBB filed was opened in 2004.

In it's prime, this debt buyer was bringing such a high volume of lawsuits that it hired a myriad of collection law firms such as:

  1. Sharinn & Lipshie, P.C.

  2. Smith, Carroad, Levy & Frankel, LLP

  3. Stephen Einstein & Associates, P.C.

  4. Forster & Garbus, LLP

  5. Houslanger & Associates

In a case from 2010 in North Carolina (which is unrelated to our law firm), Credigy Receivables Inc. was order to pay $26,000 to a person that was sued on a debt that was originated by identify theft. Although the attorneys for Credigy argued that they had a reasonable basis to execute the judgment based on the information provided to them by the predecessor-in-interest, the court found that they never had a basis to execute the judgment.
